IMCA has updated its Competition Law Compliance Policy, which can now be found here. The original document has served us well since December 2003, but the latest version tightens up certain language in-line with current practice.

IMCA publishes report on Mini RadaScan system for DP operations

Reliable and robust methods of positioning are required for safe vessel operations at offshore installations. The development of dynamic positioning (DP) systems has been gradual over the past 50 years and today, various manufacturers’ systems are available around the world. IMCA Europe & Africa Section meeting in Bergen

Three members of the technical team at the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) will be attending the association’s Europe & Africa Section Meeting, which features eight highly relevant presentations being given by key offshore industry players, on Tuesday 24 November at the Clarion Bergen Airport Hotel. IMCA publishes shared use of sensors guidance

Two documents on the shared use of sensors have been revised and merged to form one common document recently published by the International Marine Contractors Association as IMCA S023 ‘Guidelines on the shared use of sensors for survey and positioning purposes’. Closer collaboration between IMCA and ICES

Two recent events have highlighted how the International Marine Contractors Association and the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES) are working closely to promote the importance of hydrographic and civil engineering surveying in the marine environment and the competency of their respective members. Under the terms of the 2014 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed by both organisations, offshore survey personnel who have completed competence portfolios based on the IMCA framework can use this as a demonstration of their competence for membership of ICES. A number of individuals have contacted the IMCA secretariat over the last few months seeking clarity on their ROV technician competency and operator grade status. Almost all wish to get guidance on how to acquire IMCA certification or accreditation for their ROV skills, grade or position in their company. Please be aware that IMCA does not issue certification or accreditation for any ROV technician competence listed in our competence framework, or any other company or training provider competence framework. New Technical Adviser Appointed at IMCA

John Bradshaw has joined the technical team at the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) as a Technical Adviser. Eight Technical Advisers work with the Association’s Technical Director, Technical Manager and technical committees from the global membership formulating IMCA’s work programme and developing guidance documents and reports aimed at increasing safety and efficiency within the industry. IMCA Names New Chief Executive

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) has appointed Allen Leatt as Chief Executive. He will be joining on 1 October 2015 from Subsea 7 where he has been Senior VP for Engineering and Project Management. CMID inspector scheme reaches a milestone … and so does CMID

The CMID (Common Marine Inspection Document) Vessel Inspector Scheme has reached a milestone with the hundredth Vessel Inspector application having been received. The Inspectors accredited so far are based in over 20 countries, with both the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) and the International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS) actively promoting the scheme globally.
