Publication ordering made simple at IMCA

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) website now includes the new IMCA Store for online ordering. Implementation of the system sees the catalogue of logbooks, competence records and other printed items all available ensuring that members around the world can place and pay for orders at their convenience. The IMCA Store features both a secure online payment system through PayPal and automatic calculation of delivery costs to the country of choice. We trust that our members will find this online system to be an efficient and seamless way of purchasing our publications.

Changes to IMCA IT Services Team

IMCA has appointed Adam Hugo as its new IT Services Supervisor & System Developer. In this role, he is responsible for the support and continuous improvement of a variety of services, including: the secretariat IT network; SharePoint sites used by committees and workgroups; and the eCMID vessel inspection system. The developer aspect of the role encompasses our website, with new features in the pipeline, expanded use of SharePoint functionality; making more efficient use of IMCA data; and liaising with the external eCMID development team. The suite of 15 new safety training videos and associated pocket cards has now been completed by the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA). Reminder of changes to the eCMID system from 1 January 2018

Report format From 1 January 2018, IMCA will only recognise formal inspection reports conducted using its eCMID database, meaning that reports not uploaded into the database will no longer be considered by IMCA to be authorised vessel inspection reports. The whole eCMID system is now based on the principles described in the ISO 19011 – Guidance for auditing management systems – standard and is aligned with other comparable industry guidance on safety management system assurance. Subsea metrology procedures are expanding rapidly to provide ever higher accuracy solutions, so the publication by the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) of a revised version of ‘Guidance on subsea metrology‘ (IMCA S 019 Rev. 1) is both highly relevant and timely. IMCA welcomes UK Home Office decision

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) welcomes the extension by the Home Office until 21 October 2018 of the concession to UK immigration rules concerning workers joining vessels engaged in the construction and maintenance of offshore wind projects. As noted by IMCA in June, IMCA welcomes and applauds the Home Office’s pragmatic response to the voice and needs of industry in addressing this issue. This decision has provided clarity and certainty in planning and executing existing projects, which are critical to delivering renewable energy capacity in the UK, and allows time for industry to adjust to the new regime.

IMCA joins World Federation of Pipe Line Industry Associations

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) has become a Sister Association member of the World Federation of Pipe Line Industry Associations (WFPIA). It was in March 2015 that the International Maritime Organization (IMO) agreed to use the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) proposals as the basis for the review of the IMO Guidelines for vessels with dynamic positioning (DP) systems (MSC/Circ.645).
