IMCA celebrates with Brazil’s ‘Friend of the Navy’ award

The International Marine Contractors Association’s (IMCA’s) contribution to offshore training has been recognised by the presentation, by the Brazilian Navy, of the Brazilian ‘Friend of the Navy’ Medal (Medalha Amigo da Marinha) to John Chatten of Fugro, Chair of IMCA’s South America Region.IMCA‘s Chief Executive, Allen Leatt said: “It is an honour for IMCA to receive this accolade.We, and Fugro, are delighted. IMCA urges members to be vigilant against fabricated certificates

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) has asked members to treat with utmost caution, any certificates, other than those listed on their website, that depict IMCA logos or portray IMCA approval. The Association was made aware of a number of doctored ROV certificates, being circulated in the Asia-Pacific region, despite the fact it does not currently issue, approve or accredit ROV certification. IMCA’s South America regional webinar focuses on competence

The November South American Regional Webinar of the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) will be held  on Wednesday 24 November at 10:00 local time in Brazil (BRT) (UTC-3) and bring together the work of the South American Committee with that of the global Competence & Training Committee. Importance of COVID-19 Vaccination to the Offshore Diving Community Stressed

The Diving Medical Advisory Committee (DMAC) has issued new a position statement on the importance of COVID-19 vaccination for offshore divers.DMAC’s statement at www.dmac-diving.org/guidance/DMAC-Statement-202110.pdf makes it clear that the known risks of COVID-19 illness and its related, possibly severe complications, far outweigh the potential risks of having an extremely rare serious adverse reaction to vaccination. Bill has 25 years of experience in the commercial diving industry.
