The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) is to hold its South America Regional meeting in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday 14 March. With its theme ‘Remote Surveillance in Support of Offshore Operations’ this will be an opportunity for IMCA members and their guests to receive an update on the Association’s activities, and to hear highly relevant presentations from three IMCA member companies.

Chaired by John Chatten, IMCA’s South America Committee Chairman, the meeting will include presentations by Captain Andy Goldsmith, IMCA’s Technical Adviser – Marine, who will give an update on IMCA’s work.  He explained: “Also, as industry strives for increased efficiency remote support of operations becomes more and more attractive. Companies operating offshore Brazil are taking the lead and we will hear from three IMCA member companies – Fugro, Kongsberg and Technip FMC – on how they are using remote technology to improve their operations.”.

Additionally, the meeting will provide members with an update from previous meetings on compliance requirements covering regulation NR 6 on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and NR 10 on Safety in Electrical Installations and services.

“John Chatten and I look forward to welcoming members and their guests to an information packed session,” said Andy Goldsmith. “Regional meetings take place in all five IMCA regions regularly throughout the year to ensure that members everywhere have the opportunity to update themselves; meet members of IMCA’s secretariat; and network.”
