IMCA shortlisted for 2021 Safety4Sea Initiative Award
Published on 10 August 2021
The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) has been shortlisted for the 2021 Safety4Sea Initiative Award in recognition of the association’s ‘Safety Flash’ system which provides a fast and vital communication channel for the industry and helps prevent recurrence of situations by highlighting potential workplace incidents.
This award category acknowledges any organisation or association that sparked, realised, or significantly contributed in any initiative fostering safer and sustainable shipping.
This is the sixth consecutive year of the SAFETY4SEA Virtual Awards within the scope of fostering Safety Excellence & Sustainable Shipping. The voting process is split equally between an online public vote and deliberation by an industry panel of selected experts. The winner will be announced at a dedicated event to be held on 20 October, during the SAFETY4SEA Virtual Forum.
Nick Hough, the Technical Adviser responsible for HSE at IMCA explained:
“Safety lies at the heart of IMCA’s work and we are honoured to be among the shortlisted nominees for the 2021 Safety4Sea Initiative Award. We work with our members to ensure continuous improvement in the safety performance of the marine contracting sector. IMCA Safety Flashes are a powerful and useful initiative used to drive up safety standards and facilitate safe, reliable and efficient operations across the marine and offshore industry. They are a well-respected and trusted way for information to be shared with crews of vessels, and have contributed to saving lives and preventing injuries. It’s a credit to our members and the offshore construction industry, that this important work has been recognised.”
The shortlist of nominees is available online and votes can be cast for IMCA below. Voting will be open until 10th of September 2021.
