Summary
The test criterion applicable to standard ships’ lifeboat launch and recovery systems, i.e. 12-monthly function test by deployment of the integral system, is not appropriate for hyperbaric evacuation launch systems because of the inherent differences between the two, e.g. gravity fall and lift-over and fall, each of which generates different load factors and therefore requires different test criteria.
In addition, hyperbaric evacuation launch systems vary in their design configuration which precludes application of standard testing.
