IMCA to hold briefing seminar in Baku

A free-to-attend morning seminar will be held by the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) at the Hyatt Baku on Thursday 6 October in order to introduce IMCA, its role, activities and membership to companies active in Azerbaijan’s marine contracting sector.
“The briefing seminar is open to all interested parties and is aimed at IMCA members, oil company representatives, contractors, consultants and anyone interested in marine contracting within the offshore oil and gas industry,” explains IMCA’s Technical Director, Jane Bugler.”We look forward to meeting all interested in the work of our association, which represents the interests of over 800 companies in nearly 60 countries. The morning will end with a networking buffet lunch to which all are invited in order to find out more about our role as a knowledge base and a common industry voice.”
Following welcoming remarks by both IMCA and SOCAR, Chris Rodricks of SEAMEC, Chairman of IMCA’s Middle East & India Section will give an overview of IMCA. This will be followed by a technical update on IMCA activities by Jane Bugler; Mark Sutton of Topaz Marine will look at the use of IMCA documents by a contractor member company, while Guy Odell of Fugro, Vice-Chairman of IMCA’s Middle East & India Section will talk about safe and efficient ROV operations.
Four more presentations will follow the coffee break – Gerard Wessel of Van Oord will speak on Azeri port development programs; Jane Bugler will give an overview on safety and lifting operations; her colleague Nick Hough, IMCA Technical Adviser – Offshore Survey, will talk about the work of the association’s Offshore Survey Division; and Ernesto Daza of BP will provide an update on BP’s Shah Deniz development project.
