DP Conference: Shaping the future of Dynamic Positioning
Published on 23 May 2023
150 attendees from around the world joined IMCA in Amsterdam for the 2023 edition of its Dynamic Positioning conference.
Bringing the industry together to hear from industry leaders, join in sector-wide discussions and debates, and receive the latest from IMCA on guidance and certification, our two-day annual conference is a great opportunity for attendees to shape the future of Dynamic Positioning.
Across a full programme of high-profile industry speakers, interactive industry sessions and workshops, quickfire innovation presentations, as well as ample opportunities for professional networking, the Conference fostered a positive and collaborative culture driving the industry forward.
Day one saw keynote speaker Karen Davis share her vision for closer and greater industry collaboration between OCIMF and the industry via organisations such as IMCA. Sessions explored the latest updates on DP (event reporting, accreditation schemes and the IMCA DP Key Personnel CPD App), the technical work of the DP committee (trials, shallow water operations, and field/site trials) and Assurance and Training (eCMID/eMISW, DP training and a DP Event). The quickfire session saw six innovative companies pitch their break-through technology to the audience in a series of timed presentations.

Day two started with the Ask the Industry session where a panel of experts and IMCA’s technical specialists were on hand to answer any DP related questions from the audience. Following this were sessions on renewables (floating offshore wind, DP jack-up vessels and meeting future challenges) and hybrid power systems.
Commenting on the DP Conference 2023, Richard Purser, Technical Adviser – Marine at IMCA said: “A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at our Conference in Amsterdam, including the speakers and members of the DP Committee. It was – once again – a great event with plenty of discussion and debate which will positively push the industry forward and help shape the solutions to the challenges we all face.”
“We look forward to doing it all again soon and hope you will join us next year on 21 and 22 May for DP Conference 2024!”
IMCA’s DP Conference 2024 takes place on 21 and 22 May 2024.
