IMCA CEO looks forward To Central & North America meeting

Published on 13 April 2016

Allen Leatt, Chief Executive of the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) is looking forward to meeting members of the global trade association at the forthcoming Central & North America Section meeting being held in Houston on Thursday 21 April.

“We have three days of meetings, comprising working sessions with our sub-groups and the regional meeting itself. It is a packed programme, and I am greatly looking forward to meeting members,” says Allen Leatt. The regional meeting is open free-of-charge to members, their guests and all interested in the work of IMCA.

“I will be giving a general update on IMCA; and then there will be technical updates on all our divisions (Competence & Training; Safety, Environmental and Legislation; Diving; Marine; Offshore Survey; and Remote Systems & ROV). I will then be giving an update on Policy and Regulatory matters, before we have two presentations. The first is on DP Incident Reporting; and the second is by Stan Kaczmarek, PE Chief SEMS Section who will be speaking on ‘US Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE): An update on Safety and Environmental Management Systems’.

“As usual at all our Section meetings there will be un-minuted discussion of recent safety-related incidents, for IMCA is dedicated to improving performance in the marine contracting industry, and sharing knowledge is an important step to achieving ever better safety standards.

“Saving time, and working cost-effectively are both important to all in the marine contracting industry, so we are now making it possible to join our Section meetings by videoconference or teleconference facilities – indeed, Andy Goldsmith, IMCA Technical Adviser, Marine will be joining us via Zoom with his presentation on DP Incident Reporting.”

Those intending being at the meeting at the Houston Marriott Energy Corridor Hotel, 16011 Katy Freeway, Houston, either in person or via video or phone links, should email IMCA Events at events@legacy.imca-int.com. The videoconference facility can be used from a PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone or Android device – https://imca-int.zoom.us/j/2855258383; and those joining by phone can use +1 646 568 7788 (US Toll) or +1 415 762 9988 (US Toll) with the Meeting ID 2855258383.
