South America Offshore Wind 2023

IMCA is a supporting organisation to South America Offshore Wind ’23 which takes place September 18 to 20 2023 at Sheraton Grand, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Brazil has an astonishing 71 applications from developers for more than 100GW of wind turbines. IBAMA and the government are now looking into the regulatory set-up of leasing and permitting to unlock a first auction in late 2023.

Colombia sees a potential of 50GW and large areas for future development have been allocated – bottom-fixed wind in the South and floating in the North. Colombia’s Ministry of Mining and Energy has launched the country’s first leasing round and expects to award
30-year, minimum 200MW concessions in the second half of 2023.

South America Offshore Wind is a two-day conference exploring the early permitting steps, procedures, technology and infrastructure – notably around floating wind development and decarbonising Brazil’s oil and gas production.

It is organised by the team behind OTC Brasil and Floating Wind Solutions Houston.
