IMCA changes seminar format to suit members' requirements

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) is moving away from its traditional one-off annual seminar format to a series of subject-specific technical seminars and workshops spread throughout the year
Allen Leatt, IMCA Chief Executive explains: “The large annual seminar has served our members well but now the market has changed and so has our approach. Our reasons are twofold – the current market environment, and the need expressed by our members and committee leadership team to have smaller niche events tailored to specific requirements.
“We have listened to our members, and had great success with trialling the technical seminar concept this year, including the ‘Contracts & Insurance Seminar’ in London and the ‘Wire Rope Seminar’ in Amsterdam. These were well supported and very successful in addressing challenging industry issues with top industry specialists, as well as providing good networking opportunities.
“This model of seminar fits the current market very well and will reach far more people during the course of a year than a single annual event. We will develop this series to cover all our technical divisions and core activities. For example, we will hold our diving seminar in Aberdeen in November, and ROV seminar in Q1 next year – the programme will be fully rolled-out in 2017.”
