IMCA turns out in force for Singapore-based Asia-Pacific Section meeting

The next Asia-Pacific Section meeting of the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) will take place on Wednesday 30 November at the OSEA Exhibition & Conference in Singapore at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre.
The day-long meeting will be attended by IMCA Chief Executive, ; Technical Director, Richard Benzie; and Regional Director, Asia-Pacific, Denis Welch. A cocktail reception will be held at the end of a stimulating day of presentations and updates on IMCA’s activities, its current work programme and matters of regional interest.
“We are looking forward to meeting members from all over the Asia-Pacific region,” says Allen Leatt. “We are delighted to have four highly relevant presentations taking place, as well as IMCA updates on its core activities and technical divisions. There will also be a report on policy and regulatory affairs. As at all IMCA meetings there will be networking opportunities at coffee and lunch breaks as well as at the cocktail reception. We also look forward to meeting members and non-members alike in the OSEA exhibition where we can be found on Stand BR4-12”
The first of the four presentations at the Section meeting will be on ‘Market Trends – A Classification Society’s View of the Future’ by Derek Novak, President/COO – Pacific Division, ABS. Chan Yew Known, Director of Occupational Safety & Health Division, Ministry of Manpower will then speak about ‘Singapore’s WSH (Workplace Safety and Health) Journey’; and be followed by ‘An exposition of the arbitration and mediation friendly environment in Singapore for the resolution of maritime disputes, with particular focus on the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA)’ by Andrew G Moran QC of The Arbitration Chambers.
Following lunch Zach McCann, Regional Manager, Australasia, Sonomatic Ltd will be speaking on ‘Subsea inspection and engineering capabilities focusing on verification of pigging data and inspection and engineering assessment of unpiggable lines’.
