IMCA has so far:
- Raised awareness of these issues by:
- Sharing the HSE letter with members and specifically with all relevant IMCA committees
- Started to increase awareness on an international stage by engaging with our members and requesting their ideas on how to tackle the issues
- Increased our efforts to engage with the other stakeholders via the Industry Collaboration Committee and our own Marine Renewable Energy Committee
- Used our well-respected Safety Flash system to highlight issues and request vigilance and appropriate reporting of incidents for the purpose of learning from each other
- Proposed hosting a webinar entitled “Health & Safety – Our Industry’s Priority”, focusing on health and safety issues to highlight the HSE concerns and allow our industry to respond with action plans
- So far we have had a positive response in planning this webinar and have confirmed speakers from the UK HSE, American Wind Energy Association, G+, IMCA’s Marine Renewable Energy Committee. We aim to announce a date and full line up for the webinar shortly.
Our response to the UK HSE received positive feedback from Trevor Johnson, along with recognition of how IMCA has brought the marine community together to provide leadership and improve health and safety in the offshore renewable sector. IMCA has also received acknowledgement of our commitment to work collectively with the rest of the sector to continue to enable improvements in health and safety.
