CEO Update – December 2022
Welcome to the final edition of Making Waves for 2022.
We recently welcomed Hans Dieteren, Group Director the Offshore Energy Division at Boskalis, to our Board of Directors, which now completes the planned expansion of the Board.
Alongside our highly successful work plans carried out by our committees in 2022, we have been busy getting back on the road with a series of regional meetings, technical seminars, and industry events. We have certainly enjoyed reconnecting with our Members and colleagues across the industry. I was delighted to personally attend a number of these events which prove the benefit of networking and the invaluable role IMCA plays in the industry – we look forward to a busy programme in 2023.
Whilst the market generally has become more encouraging during the year; IMCA does have one major concern on behalf of our Members, and that relates to the sustainability of the fast-growing offshore wind energy market. Our Legal, Contracts, Insurance, and Compliance Committee has recently completed a major piece of work in revising our contracting principles in the offshore renewables market. We will start communicating and promoting these contracting principles widely in the new year. We hope that Members will find the new revision beneficial as they are rolled out in discussion with a wide range of stakeholders for the benefit and success of the whole industry. A process that will indeed take an extended period of time in 2023.
It gives me great pleasure to welcome new Members who have joined us this year and to thank you all for your continued support, and I wish you all every success for 2023.
Allen Leatt
