IMCA has updated its Competition Law Compliance Policy, which can now be found here. The original document has served us well since December 2003, but the latest version tightens up certain language in-line with current practice.
A number of individuals have contacted the IMCA secretariat over the last few months seeking clarity on their ROV technician competency and operator grade status. Almost all wish to get guidance on how to acquire IMCA certification or accreditation for their ROV skills, grade or position in their company. Please be aware that IMCA does not issue certification or accreditation for any ROV technician competence listed in our competence framework, or any other company or training provider competence framework. IMCA’s Chief Executive, Chris Charman, has stepped down, with immediate effect (as from 1 May). Jane Bugler has become Acting Chief Executive, thus ensuring that IMCA is in very safe hands. A new Chief Executive will be sought to take IMCA forward and continue to deliver ever more support for our 1,000+ members in over 60 countries. In announcing his decision, Chris Charman has asked that all members and members of committees receive this message: “Now that the changes implemented inside IMCA are well under way and gathering pace, by mutual consent I am standing down, leaving the way forward
When IMCA members flocked to Copenhagen in March for EWEA Offshore 2015, we saw it as an ideal opportunity to reach them by hosting a seminar in conjunction with the show. Safety is of paramount important offshore, and ‘Remotely Operated Vehicle Intervention During Diving Operations’ (IMCA D 054, IMCA R 020) is newly published by the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) to provide guidelines for the safe and efficient offshore operation of ROVs in combined operations with divers in the same underwater space. “The guidance is designed for use by both contractors and clients, and purposely avoids subjects of minority interest,” explains IMCA’s Technical Director, Jane Bugler.”It contains guidelines and recommendations for the maintenance of a high level of safety and efficiency across the ROV sector.
