IMCA annual seminar: Maritime Cluster Fund

The Maritime Part Authority (MPA) Singapore has approved an application from IMCA to be included in the Maritime Cluster Fund (MCF) for a training grant for the IMCA Annual Seminar 2013 in Singapore on 6-7 November. The IMCA 2013 annual seminar has been approved as an MPA short course and eligible candidates can apply for a 70% grant towards their seminar fees, which would be reimbursed after the seminar takes place. Two new pocket safety cards From IMCA

Two new pocket safety cards have been published by the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA). IMCA’s 22nd card covers electrical hazards attracting attention with its message”electricity can kill or severely injure people and cause damage to equipment”. It details the hazards, and provides bullet points on assessing and reducing the risks of electrical shock. The 23rd card covers noise, warning that too much noise – or prolonged exposure to it – can cause permanent and disabling hearing damage, and has some handy pointers for assessing if there is too much noise in a workplace, how to reduce exposure to noise,

New CEO of IMCA now in post

Chris Charman has now taken over from Hugh Williams as Chief Executive of the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA). He joined the association on 3 December working with outgoing CEO Hugh Williams, who is retiring at the end of the year. With two weeks in post under his belt, during which he has met scores of members and attended a host of meetings, Chris Charman said: “I love the passion I am seeing from members and am greatly looking forward to working with them in the coming years; and to learning in detail what they do. I am already appreciating
