The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) recently held one of its regular Europe & Africa Section meetings in Luanda, Angola. “This was a very successful ‘first’ for us,” explains Jane Bugler, IMCA’s Technical Director. “The event was co-hosted by Pascal Grosjean of Technip, Chairman of the Europe & Africa Section and IMCA Technical Adviser, Nick Hough. Over a dozen contractors were represented by the 23 delegates who attended and were updated on IMCA’s vision and strategy and our resources and materials; as well as being provided with a technical update. The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) is to hold a half day briefing meeting of its Europe & Africa Section for the first time in Luanda, Angola on Wednesday 4 March 2015, and looks forward to welcoming members and non-members alike. With speakers from Technip, the German Shipowners Association, German Shipbuilders, Workships Contractors, Seaway Heavy Lifting, Bluewater, RWE, Vattenfall, ER Offshore and Global Maritime the meeting on Thursday 28 November at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Hamburg is open to members and non-members alike. “IMCA established an offshore renewables workgroup in 2011 following growing concerns regarding safety in the offshore wind construction industry,” explains the association’s Technical Director, Jane Bugler.
